- WinTalk uses ports 517 (talk) and 518 (ntalk).

-
- No. That is not a factor.
-
- I have modems which have LCD front panels at my home. When there is a
- retrain going on the LCD lights up with the information, and the TST light
- illuminates.
-
- There is no pattern to it. When it happens, it happens and happens
- frequently. I have never gotten more than 15-30 minutes in before it
- happens, and usually quite a bit less.
-
- I have two other users here who also have exactly the same pattern; start
- Alpha17 by hand (ie: dial themselves since A17 has no dialer) and it is
- rock solid, A18 and later either give pauses at times like I get or
- outright hangs that require a nerve-pinch.
-
- Again, A17 is solid and does not exhibit the problem. It also doesn't have
- a dialer. This is an A18 and later bug of some form.

- Subject: Wintalk on port 1111?
-
- Does wintalk work on port 1111? I've notice dthat Eudora and wintalk are
- nearly incompatible for me. Brown reserves port 109 for kerbeized pop
- clients, so I had to set Eudora to work on 1111. Is there a
- solution to this?

- Subject: Windows NT Handles and Sockets
-
- Hello,
-
- I'm doing some programming with NT and sockets. I was under the impression
- that in NT, sockets were implemented as HANDLES. This would make it possible
- to use sockets on functions like ReadFile/WriteFile. However, when I try to
- insert a SOCKET in place of the HANDLE in the function call, Visual C++
- (NT version) refuses to accept this. Is it possible to use sockets and
- HANDLES interchangeably in any of the NT file calls?
-
- Thanks,
-

- Sounds like a plan. There is a file on the X Consortium's ftp server that
- covers non-Unix X servers. This might be a handy starting place, or a useful
- thing to contribute to. The name of the server used to be export.lcs.mit.edu;
- I don't recall what it is now, but the latest X Window FAQ should have this
- info.
